Blades Graduates

Year-after-year the Oakville Blades attract attention from many different levels of hockey - from the National Hockey League to professional hockey overseas, to university teams in the United States and Canada.  Many ex-Blades have moved on to higher levels of the game and information regarding their team and/or school can be found on this page.

In addition, the side menu tabs have more information about university commitments for the 2012-2013 season and current CHL draft picks on the Blades roster during the 2011-2012 season.

National Hockey League (NHL)

The National Hockey League is the top professional league in the world and continues to be the ultimate goal for nearly every young hockey player in Canada, the United States and Europe.  In recent years, many Blades alumni have advanced through the Major Junior or College ranks and attracted NHL exposure.

The list below includes players selected directly from the Oakville Blades by a National Hockey League club and players selected by National Hockey League clubs after they finished with the Oakville Blades organization.

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)

Gaining an education through hockey, or simply while playing hockey, can be a very rewarding experience.  Many ex-Oakville Blades have moved on to play hockey in the NCAA at either the Division I level or Division III level. 

On the list below you will find the year or years the player spent with the Oakville Blades and the academic institution they attended.  The list is as up-to-date as current statistics will allow and will be updated further during 2010 as information becomes available regarding the destination(s) for current Blades.

Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS)

Numerous ex-Blades have advanced to play Canadian University hockey in addition to having played Major Junior hockey.  The CIS is made up of three (3) leagues - the Canada West (CW) conference, the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference and the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference.

A number of ex-Blades have also jumped directly from the Tier II Junior "A" level into the minor professional and professional ranks.  Players like Rob Davidson (extensive minor professional carrer), Mike Gamble (extensive minor professional career), Bryan Hamm (OHL experience and an NHL pick of the Dallas Stars) and Marc Pinizzotto (German Professional experience) all spent a portion of their Junior careers with the hockey club.
