Please check the 2010 page as the 2009-2010 season progresses for information regarding Blades off to the NCAA and CIS to play university hockey, beginning next fall, September 2010.
Ryan Murphy (6'1, 190 lbs., 1989)
Ryan has committed to Niagara University and the Niagara Purple Eagles program beginning in September of 2010. A native of Stratford, ON, Ryan ended the 2008-2009 regular season as the Blades 3rd leading scorer behind overagers Luke Moodie and captain Jeremy Welsh with 81 points in 49 games. Ryan also proved to be a very capable player in his own end throughout the season, ending with a plus-minus rating of +52, while earning a 'minus' rating in only 5 of 49 regular season games. In the 2009 playoffs he continued his strong offensive play, netting 29 points in 28 games, including 2 game-winning goals and 1 series-winning goal. Ryan was also a 'plus' player in the playoffs, earning a +17 rating. The Blades are excited to have Ryan back for the 2009-2010 season as he looks to build upon a very successful rookie campaign.
Michael Ingoldsby (6'1, 190 lbs., 1989)
Michael has committed to Union College and the Union Dutchmen hockey program beginning in September of 2010. A defenceman and native of Stratford, ON, he joined the Blades prior to the 2008-2009 season and netted 18 points in 42 games as a rookie. He also posted a very impressive +34 rating in the regular season. Mike elevated his game during the playoffs, helping the Blades to the OJHL final, matching his regular season point total of 18 in only 28 playoff games. He was +6 in the playoffs as well. During the 2009-2010 OJAHL season Mike will serve as the Blades team captain and log a lot of minutes on the back end as one of three returning defencemen.
Steven Guzzo (6'0, 190 lbs., 1990)
Steven will be heading to the NCAA in September of 2010 to play for the University of Massachusetts Minutemen. Guzzo is in his 3rd year with the Oakville Blades. He joined the Blades in 2007-2008 and registered 11 goals and 12 assists for 23 points in 46 games, as well as 6 points in 21 playoff games to help the Blades claim the 2008 Dudley Hewitt Cup and a spot in the Royal Bank Cup in Cornwall, ON. He returned in 2008-2009 looking to improve on his rookie campaign but had his season cut short, suffering a season ending upper-body injury in only his 4th game of the season. Guzzo used last summer to get back into game shape and has, arguably, been the Blades most complete player from the opening day of training camp in 2009-2010. He posted a career high 29 goals, 41 assists, and 70 points in 56 games this past season. It would surprise many to know that Guzzo finished his Ontario Jr. A career with 97 points in 109 career games and that he could've, as a 1990 born player, returned for another season of Jr. A hockey in Oakville in 2010-2011.
Kyle Badham (6'1, 200 lbs., 1989)
The Blades a pleased to announce Kyle has accepted an offer to play for the Oswego State Lakers Division III program in the NCAA beginning in the fall of 2010. A three-year Blade, he was a member of both the 2008 and 2010 Dudley Hewitt Cup championship teams in Oakville. During his time with the Blades Kyle put up 34 G, 74 A for 108 PTS in 150 regular season games while piling up 250 PIMs. In the playoffs, he scored 11 G, added 12 A for 23 PTS with 102 PIMs in 69 games. He will best be remembered for his Game 7 OT-GWG on the road against Kingston in the OJAHL final during the 2009-2010 playoffs, as well as earning the 2010 Dudley Hewitt Cup leading scorer award at the tournament held in Sault Ste Marie, ON in April. At Oswego, Kyle will join a powerful Lakers squad coming off a semi-final appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament this past season - as well as reuniting with former Oakville Blades F Luke Moodie (Oakville, ON), D Taylor Farris (Oakville, ON), F Tyler Leimbrock (Caledon, ON) and F Chris Muise (Oakville, ON).
